In recent years it seems like all different types of media have been popping up all over the place and whether podcasts are new or not, they are definitely a contender as one of the most popular sources of media and content in 2020.
A podcast, for those of you that don’t know, is an audio show in which a person or people record themselves speaking, similar to radio talk.
Podcasts can be about nearly everything from people talking about their day to experts discussing and debating political views.
Why are we discussing podcasts?
Last year it was announced that 7 million people in the UK now listen to podcasts each week and this number is on the rise!
Although podcasts aren’t technically a form of ‘Digital Marketing’ they can be used in a number of ways to help elevate your digital presence and produce engaging content for your business which can then be shared through digital mediums such as social media or your website! Simply discussing your products and services in a podcast is a way of promoting your business online as long as you have an audience listening then the marketing does itself.
Podcasts tend to be more accessible than articles and videos because usually you can download them to your phone and listen to them no matter where you are or what you’re doing!
How do you make a podcast?
Making podcasts is actually very easy! As long as you have a good internet connection, a decent microphone and a quiet room then you can get the ball rolling right away.
Publishing podcasts are a little more work… sometimes you have to have 2 or 3 podcast already recorded before you can publish.

The Verdict
Podcasts in the last couple of years have been becoming a lot more popular with the public due to the development of smartphones and better internet connection with 4G.
A business podcast could be the best way of helping your business stand out against the crowd and a place for you to talk about your products, how they work and what they can be used for. They could even be used to talk to happy customers or clients to talk about their experiences!
So where do we fit in with all this podcast talk? This year we are working closely with the Warrington Buyers Club who have plans to start their own podcast and as their chosen digital agency we’re sure we will play a big role in this, so watch this space for more tips and tricks and possibly our own attempt at podcasts as we will need to get the practice in ourselves…
