Mosaic’s Double Networking Feature at KCC London & Build North Expo!

Mosaic took to the stands last week as we took on a double expo feature. We shared leads, discussed the industry’s biggest news, and expanded our networking connections across the UK. It was a fast-paced time for a digital agency in Warrington.

Today, we will write about our journey, covering what we did and highlighting some of the businesses we met along the way.

Who are KCC and Build North?

Prior readers might remember KCC, as we have had a long-term relationship with the networking business. Keep Calm and Connect Quicker was founded by Sue Richards, who maintains it to this day.

It has been one of the biggest growing networking groups across Cheshire and the North West for the past decade. So, naturally, Mosaic has been a part of that process along the way, discussing our work in ecommerce for Warrington and promoting our website design services for the North West.

On a similar note, Build North Expo works with a range of businesses to bring a massive networking event to life, including some of the best suppliers and service providers in the industry. Some of the names involved include the National Federation of Builders, Builders Merchant Federation, NASC, and others.

A massively unifying event organiser for the whole North of England. Build North is a significant centre for networking and building business connections, which Mosaic naturally had to participate in.

One Day, Two Networking Events

So, along came the 16th of October, when both events were to take place. KCC represented a group we were happy to support as a long-term attendee, even all the way down in London. Everyone, after all, needs website design and SEO marketing.

On the other hand, there was, of course, the Build North Expo. While we often attend these kinds of events held in the North, what made Build North special was that we were there to support our partner, the National Federation of Builders (NFB).

We had worked with the NFB for some time, providing website design and hosting, so we were more than happy to attend.

Our Day at Build North

So, Mosaic’s team A set off towards Leeds with Jon Halliday in charge of driving our wonderful Danielle and Georgia to Elland Road stadium.

Once inside, they were impressed by the wide range of businesses present at Build North. Armed with a hearty cup of tea and some snacks, they got to work. Georgia, our marketing specialist on the scene, spent the day building a vlog of our experience, which you can find here in our event update.

She interviewed several businesses and discussed digital strategies such as social media marketing, website design, SEO and SEO marketing. As she delved into the meat of networking, she participated in interviews with Workwise, Trimble, and Sean Houlston from the National Federation of Builders.

Speaking With Sean Houlston on the Industry

Sean Houlston had quite a lot to discuss with the industry and the broader growth of digital tools within it. Much like we’ve seen in our digital agency, ecommerce, social media marketing, SEO marketing, and even website design have become increasingly prominent parts of every business, including the construction industry, despite what you might assume.

As the head of membership and digital services, Houlston had some great insight into how digital components of business are only growing:

  • Membership portals are becoming increasingly important for workers to organise, schedule, manage information and keep up to date with their business
  • Ask NFB’s importance continues to grow as a platform for assisting construction businesses to maximise their efforts and stay alert to changes within the industry
  • Digital outreach is in more demand than ever as employment rights and worker benefits are in flux, with government changes coming into effect across whole sectors

Our Team’s Networking Highlights from the Build North Expo

It would not be a true write-up if we did not include some of our team highlights for the expo.

  • Georgia highlights how it was fantastic “to watch Sean Houlston’s presentation at the event, and we had a great time catching up with him. It was also great to meet with lots of different businesses in the building and construction industry. We also had a lot of fun vlogging the whole day.”
  • Jon said it was “really great to meet up with NFB here, and we’ve had a fantastic day talking to them and talking about their membership. Digital is becoming really, really important in the construction industry now, as it is across all industries.”
  • While Danielle was happy to have had “some great conversations and a potential partnership agreement, so very excited to obviously get back to the office and reach out to and give them a bit more information.”

The whole team came away from the networking event with great insights and a fondness for the Build North Expo. We’re looking forward to the next one when it’s hosted in Liverpool next year.

Our Day at KCC’s Networking Event in London

Meanwhile, Mosiac’s team B attended the networking event hosted in London for KCC. As the first they had hosted there, it was quite an honour to be invited to speak about our website design, social media marketing, SEO marketing and various other services. With a diverse range of businesses in attendance.

As part of our attendance at the networking event, our CEO, James Murphy, and our lead business development manager, Paul Murphy, travelled the day before to arrive in good time, ready to discuss Mosaic with the wider business community in the South.

KKC Queen’s Park Networking Meet

The day started with an 11 am opening. Passing through registration, our team enjoyed a round of refreshments before the first networking round began.

KCC’s point of pride has always been its ability to get every attendee in front of the other. That did not change here, as the opening round saw businesses meet face to face for 10-minute quality conversations.

After the light introduction, our team moved on to the first half of the event. Where Mosaic found itself speaking at the open topics’ discussion, where every business was given a chance to talk about themselves. Which is where we discussed:

  • Who the typical client was for Mosaic
  • How Mosaic’s products and services benefit our clients
  • What introductions and referrals were Mosaic seeking

It was a fantastic conversation and a great example of what makes KCC effective. Its structure allows businesses to outline what they’re looking for rather than unquestioningly hoping that talking to unrelated businesses may bring leads.

Guests and Member Meet Ups

In the second half of the KCC event, we saw a guest meet-up table hosted by Sue Richards take the main stage. New attendees could meet with businesses, members, and guests alike to discuss potential partnership opportunities and lead sharing.

This flowed nicely into the KCC member-led meet-up table, where the KCC members, including Mosaic, were able to pass on business referrals. While also flexing our expert knowledge, such as up-to-date changes from Google and what Instagram’s new changes would mean for social media marketing.

Our team was happy to see many businesses interested in our work with website design, social media marketing and more. The discussion was diverse and in-depth, resulting in some great leads being pulled in for Mosaic.

Eventually, the event concluded with an energetic atmosphere and a sense that real progress had been made for the businesses in attendance.

Highlights from the KCC London

Of course, our team had some favourite moments from the event. In fact, they found it hard to choose given the range of amazing businesses present. Alas, we got them to whittle down their choices finally.

  • Paul, our sales lead, thought that “the overall event was superb, in a fantastic space and made it easy to have a conversation with everyone. Lovely staff, great chance to talk about Mosaic, the stuff we do, and just chat and share leads.”
  • For James, our head CEO, his best moment was “being able to discuss relevant business connections with invested leaders, who are interested, engaged and willing to understand the value of connection and putting trust in professional agencies such as Mosaic when it comes to handling digital, online outreach, paid campaigns, marketing in general.”

A Day Well Spent

All in all, it was a fantastic time for everyone from Mosaic. From the North to the South, our teams saw a full range of businesses and let them see us as well. We did not just enjoy the fantastic events hosted; we also demonstrated the reach our digital agency can have.

With our leads and connections in tow, and a proud group having represented the business well, we headed home to build on everything we had learned. Ready to develop more business connections. Building out our digital marketing, website design and ecommerce services to an even wider business community.
