It’s another day for digital marketing in Warrington and another piece of major news in the industry—this time coming from a shocking place.

Okay, well, no, not really. Not if you have been paying attention to our coverage or the rest of the industry for the last two or more years. No, once again, AI has made a notable splash on the scene.

However, it is not for the reasons you may assume. Today, we’re discussing OpenAI’s recent Super Bowl advertisement for their AI business.

Which featured no AI work.

OpenAI Didn’t Use AI to Develop Their Super Bowl Marketing?

Remarkably, no, they did not use their own AI system or others to create the Super Bowl ad in question. There was the nebulous claim that AI was used to storyboard the advertisement beforehand, but it is difficult to judge how much of it played into the final version.

This begs the question of why they would not use their own AI for such an expensive ad slot.

An interesting aspect of current AI marketing seems to be that companies rely on traditional marketing. As in, human design.

It would seem that this is in part due to the need for that human element, which has repeatedly come up during the ongoing conversation around AI use in industry.

The question is whether AI usage will lead to the replacement of traditional workers. In this case at least, it seems that AI still begs the need of human artists.

Reinforcing the idea that it is not a replacement but a useful tool for creatives. Helping make work more efficient rather than eliminating it entirely.

What About Google’s Super Bowl Ad?

If you saw Google’s own Super Bowl AI ad do you think it was ‘Gouda’-enough?

My apologies but it is hard resist. After all, Google’s new advert about how AI can help any business focused on a cheese mart.

You may think, does this mean I can use AI for my own digital marketing across Warrington? That is certainly the idea put forward. Any business in any area gaining the means to benefit from Google’s Gemini AI.

It would certainly make digital marketing for Warrington easier to manage, at least for those with smaller teams.

At the same time, there was as small faux pas with the Super Bowl advert. As an X blogger noticed that the ad featured an incorrect fact.

One produced by the Gemini AI. Wherein it incorrectly stated the popularity of gouda cheese globally.

The Reality of Using AI for Your Digital Marketing in Warrington

What this ultimately speaks to is the need for human education and presence in AI usage. An AI tool could help you in all of your digital marketing across Warrington but it can’t act alone. It needs guidance.

Not to mention a level of oversight that only a human can provide. So for the time being it’s best to keep up to date on the developments of AI systems but don’t mistake them for being full replacements.
